In the course you will learn:
- what game design is, how to get a job as a game designer, and what skills from everyday life will help you in this unusual profession;
- What game design documentation includes, and how to create it;
- How to make your own game, where to get money for it, and how big are the risks when working on your own personal project;
- how to work remotely as a game designer;
- how to choose a game theme, which games are and are not worth developing; how to build relationships in a team;
- What are the managerial functions of a game designer and what are the intricacies of running a project;
During 16 lectures you will get acquainted with stages of game development, description of game project mechanics, you will work on different practical tasks that will help you create your first game concept document and learn how to calculate an approximate game budget.
On the course, you’ll do practical homework to practice the skills you’ve learned.
At the end of the course you get:
- An introduction to the video game industry.
- The basics of the GD profession.
- The skill of decomposing a game into its constituent components.
- Skill in working with technical documentation.
- Knowledge of correctly forming a concept document of your idea.
- Skill in drafting a pitch document for defense in front of the team.
- Experience in pitching in front of an audience.
- Diploma project in basic documentation format for their game.
