The information you get from our course will be enough to help you get your start as a Junior QA in almost any game industry company that needs such specialists. The profession of a tester allows you both quickly develop in the field of testing and easily enough to change your specialization and master almost any other profession in the game industry.
Our Course
Our course will give you a clear understanding of all the main aspects of the profession of a game tester, give you a possibility to get a job as a QA GameDev tester, and maybe it will open eyes of the video game development industry for somebody. It is easy enough to enter GameDev as well as enter IT from the position of a tester, in our case a tester of computer games. At the same time you will not only get the education and necessary knowledge but also start your career as a QA junior right after completing your studies.
At the course you will learn:
- Who are QA? Why QA is more than a tester? Myths and reality for those choosing the profession.
- “Getting into the game industry is easiest through a Junior QA position!”-is this really true?
- Why is it important to know the development environment? What are the basic tools one should know how to use? Terminology and information gathering.
- What is a system of bug reporting? How to write bugs? How and why does it work?
- The methodology of testing in GameDev QA. Types of testing, reading test documentation.
- What are game mechanics? Parsing a game into mechanics. Covering the mechanics with tests.
- Types of test documentation and working with them. Writing cases and plans.
- What is the “all pairs” method of testing?
- What are the peculiarities when working with a large number of platforms? The specifics of the most popular game platforms.
- How to plan work on the project as a whole and on the current stage?
- How to implement a system for keeping track of features within a project.
Course students will do practical homework to practice the skills they’ve learned.
The course consists of 12 practical lessons. The course duration is 6 weeks.
